Weeks 1–2
Pain
Calm the pain down.
Hands-on techniques ease the muscle guarding around your neck and take the edge off the pain, starting your very first visit.
What We Treat
You’re the one who stays sharp under pressure, phone in hand, laptop open until the work is done. Somewhere in all of that, your neck stopped forgiving you for it. It’s fixable, and it starts with a cause-first evaluation, not a guess.

Why It Happens
Your neck doesn’t hurt for no reason. And it’s almost never just one thing. It’s usually some mix of a few culprits: hours spent with your head drifted forward over a phone or a keyboard, quietly overloading the same few muscles. A stiff upper back that shifts more of the load onto your neck than it was built to carry. Stress that piles tension into your upper traps and the base of your skull. And, sometimes, an old whiplash-type strain that never fully settled.
None of that shows up on a quick glance. It takes a real, cause-first evaluation to sort out which one is actually driving your pain. That’s why a heating pad or a generic stretch video so often falls short: they treat the symptom, not the source. Find the real cause, and the fix gets obvious.
The Honest Truth
Nobody regrets starting too early. Every week, someone in our clinic says they regret waiting.
How We Fix It
Every plan has an endpoint. Here’s what the four phases look like for a neck that won’t let go.
Weeks 1–2
Pain
Hands-on techniques ease the muscle guarding around your neck and take the edge off the pain, starting your very first visit.
Weeks 2–6
Prime
Targeted mobility work frees up your upper back and neck so turning your head stops feeling like a decision.
Weeks 6–10
Perform
Progressive strengthening for your neck and upper back builds the endurance a long day at a desk used to wear down by noon.
Weeks 10+
Prevent
Posture and workstation habits get tested under real hours before you’re cleared to go all-in: that’s the endpoint, not just another appointment.

Questions, Answered
Usually not, and it’s rarely the first step. Most neck pain improves without imaging, and scans on people with zero neck pain routinely show the same disc and joint changes, so a picture alone doesn’t point to the real cause. We start with a hands-on evaluation to find what’s actually driving your symptoms, and if imaging ever becomes genuinely necessary, we’ll help you get it. You don’t have to wait on a scan to start feeling better.
Yes, in most cases gentle movement helps more than staying still. Hurt doesn’t always mean harm, and holding your neck rigid tends to make it stiffer and weaker, which sets up the next flare-up. The key is dosing the right movement for your specific neck, which is exactly what a Doctor of PT sorts out at your evaluation, then progresses safely as you improve.
Most patients feel meaningful change within 4–6 visits. A full plan for neck pain runs through all four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform, and Prevent, typically over 6–10 weeks, depending on how long you’ve been dealing with it. Either way, you get a plan with an endpoint: you’ll always know which phase you’re in and what’s left, not an open-ended string of appointments.
